Women in the Arts Scotland

In February 2017 I set up a Facebook group for women, working across the arts in Scotland. I imagined it would comprise a few humdred of us discussing some of the issues and topics that regularly arise and that I had noted cropped up again and again in very different creative contexts.

However within a week it had garnered thousands of members and hundreds of posts were appearing daily. It quickly grew to over 15,000 members and has a been busy, vibrant, surprising and very valuable community ever since.

Two years on and our membership is a steady 20,000 members. The group is extremely active with over 14k active members every week and Fridays seeing hundreds of women post their work in the group, from art to music, dance and theatre.

Essential discussions have taken place and important connections and advice have been found.

The group contines to thrive and develop and I am grateful for the fantastic moderator team who help run the group and ensure it continues to flourish.

Women in the Arts Scotland also has an Instagram and Twitter account, and a Facebook page, where we showcase some of the work of the members of the group. There is a tinyletter mailing list for the community.
