Forge of the Wordsmiths

 

In 2010, I set up and organised a series of writing performance events which took place in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

These events, which included club nights and garden parties, were a showcase and a testing ground for all kinds of writing, poetry, fiction, performance, theatre, experimental writing - as well as a social event for the literature community and a way for writers to meet and collaborate.

 

There were some Scottish literary themed cocktails, some fantastic performances and collaborations, and several writers tackled their first ever public reading at the events.

The Edinburgh garden party was the first time the Scottish Book Trust building had been used for a spoken word cabaret, it went on to be the regular venue for Neu! Reekie and to host other performances and exhibitions.
