STRIP POETRY - Team Sonnet

Team Sonnet created a fantastic, cross-platform poetry publication. Consisting of physical ‘interactive’ collectable cards containing poetry excerpts, with QR codes that linked to a website containing poetry as text, audio and video, using papercut graphics and music. Embracing physical and digital formats, the concept was strong, well thought-out and with their audience in mind. As well as rapidly creating their product as a team, they also had a well thought-out marketing plan using digital and physical channels.

THE TIMES MACHINE

Another team with only one day to create their publication, this awesome team created a ‘newstalgia’ proto-publication inspired by The Daily Prophet from Harry Potter, to showcase time-hopping ‘on this day’ news stories from public domain sources around the web, including Pathe footage to animate the pages. The concept was brilliant and the design impressive. They incorporated original papercut artwork and managed to build a proto-type site.

HEISTORY

Only attending on the Sunday, in an inspired creative race against time,Team Heistory managed to create an outline for a twine game (an interactive ‘text adventure’ format involving choices) in which players are organising a bank robbery with a team of famous figures from history. The project was creative, imaginative and harnessed the creative writing talents and power of twine at its finest – as a simple usable tool for interactive storytelling.

THE RACE

Team Taleteller created and designed a physical product with digital content attached, based on the story of the Chinese Zodiac. Presented as a box with origami papers and a book, The Race challenged readers to create the characters as origami animals with the help of online video tutorials, and recreate the story of the race which determined the animals in the Chinese zodiac. The concept was incredibly creative, the design and creation of the product prototype was imaginative and the outcome was a truly creative interactive publication that spanned analogue and digital.

OLIVER TWISTED

The Dickens Department coined an imprint A Charming Corpse, and tasked with republishing Dickens in new formats came up with Oliver Twisted, a new approach to storytelling through the characters in dialogue, their initial design concept would be published online, working in illustration and papercut, and using cinemagraph to bring pictures to life. time restrictions cut short the end product but you can view the illustrations and animation.

THE TELL-TALE GUIDE: EDINBURGH EDITION

Team Travelogue worked on an interactive travel guide (using Edinburgh as their proto-location) which incorporated content and stories of locals as well as tourists. Using Twine to rapidly create the framework, they added text and video content shot around Edinburgh. The team had never used Twine before but embraced it’s potential as a platform and despite half the team only being present for one day, pulled together a brilliant idea.
